Europa is Jupiter's fourth largest moon. Underneath the surface may be an ocean of salty liquid water. Europa is gravitationally locked with Jupiter and orbits it every 3.6 days. Beneath the 100 km deep ocean is believed to be an iron core with a rocky mantle. The gravity-driven tidal heating and abundance of liquid water could have allowed for the evolution of alien microbial life.
