Statue of Liberty Nebula, NGC 3576
The Omega Nebula is a blue, red and purple nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius at a distance of app. 5.500 LY from Sol. It is a low-density cloud of partially ionized gas which spans some 15 light-years in diameter and has a mass of an estimated 800 solar masses. It's situated within the Sagittarius arm, close to the much more visually stunning Lagoon Nebula.
