Sensors

Sensors outfitting icon

Standard suite providing basic detection, identification and targeting capabilities.

— In-Game Description

Sensors passively scan the surrounding area for other ships and objects of interest and displays the data on the ship's scanner. Upgrading a ship's sensors will increase their optimal range which will allow more distant ships and objects to be displayed on the Scanner. Given that the gains on range are not comparative to the cost--financially, mass, nor power draw--many commanders forego high rated sensors. Further, the tool tip for sensors can be misleading, and there appears to be absolutely no correlation between sensor class or rating and aiming. Keep in mind that breaking sensors will prevent targeting weapons, such as gimballed and turreted, from shooting since it will disable the ship's targeting capability.
