The Type-9 Heavy is Lakon Spaceways large freighter class. This ship is built to transport large cargos, a job it does very well, but it doesn't stand up well in a fight.

The Type-9 Heavy is a heavy freighter and is one of three freighters manufactured by Lakon Spaceways. Currently it has the largest cargo capacity of any ship available making it the ideal trading and hauling vessel. As a result of this it suffers from poor manoeuvrability and can have difficulty in shaking smaller ships from its blind spot. Although with five weapon hardpoints the Type-9 Heavy is not without defences and can equip heavy armaments.
It first appeared in the development diary videos and in some of the live streams done by Frontier. Later it appeared in the early Alpha stages and is one of the four ships that was in the first release of the Premium Beta.
The ship itself is often seen as a freighter, although it can be a potent threat if equipped with the right weapons. It can, with good aim and piloting take down a Sidewinder in one pass. Yet, the primary role of this ship is to be a trader as it is incredibly slow and lumbering. Also note that pilots have problems fitting through the entrance of Stations and can therefore be very expensive to fly (due to crashes) if the pilot is not sufficiently skilled. A Standard Docking Computer can be useful for players who have trouble docking this ship.
